Scholarship Details

The “Empowering Change: SPIE Scholarship for Sustainable Solutions” is awarded to students who gain admission to one of the following Master’s programs:

Throughout their academic journey, scholarship recipients will gain practical exposure by engaging with various divisions of SPIE Germany Switzerland Austria, working at the intersection of customer relationships and cutting-edge technology. This hands-on experience allows students to apply their academic skills within a real-world industrial context, greatly enhancing their career prospects.

Scholarship Award

  • Full coverage of tuition fees (100% scholarship)
  • A paid working student position (up to 20 hours per week) with SPIE Germany Switzerland Austria
  • An opportunity to complete the mandatory practical internship module of the Master’s program within SPIE

Eligibility and Selection Criteria

  • Admission to one of the designated MSc programs mentioned above
  • A strong academic record in a technical field such as electrical engineering, energy engineering, energy management systems, mechanical engineering, automation, process engineering, building technology, sustainability, or related disciplines
  • At least one year of relevant postgraduate professional experience, with particular appreciation for backgrounds in sales, project management, business development, or service roles
  • Proficiency in the German language at the time of application, with a minimum level of B1 or B2, along with a commitment to further language development
  • Flexibility and preparedness to work across Germany, Switzerland, and Austria post-graduation, ideally within customer-facing or service-oriented positions
  • A strong dedication to sustainability and a genuine digital mindset
  • Intellectual curiosity, community engagement, and alignment with SPIE’s core values

Application Process

Applicants should submit a motivation letter addressed to SPIE, a detailed curriculum vitae, and proof of German language proficiency together with their standard MSc application. These documents must be sent to the course coordinator’s email, which can be found on the respective program’s page.

The selection process is multi-phased, including the possibility of online interviews conducted by SPIE as part of the final evaluation.
