Application Deadline: 04 March 2026
Applications are currently being accepted for the prestigious 2026/2027 GSK Scholarships for Future Health Leaders. These scholarships, numbering three in total, aim to facilitate the education and professional growth of promising future leaders in global health. The initiative seeks to enhance the capabilities of health systems and advance health-related research within Africa.
This competitive funding opportunity is specifically designed for candidates who plan to enroll in a one-year, full-time, face-to-face Master of Science (MSc) programme based in London at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM).
Who Can Apply?
To qualify for these scholarships, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be citizens and current residents of countries located in sub-Saharan Africa.
- Have a commitment to return to sub-Saharan Africa after completing their MSc studies at LSHTM.
- Demonstrate financial need by confirming that without this scholarship, funding the proposed course would not be feasible, via the online scholarship application portal.
- Fulfill the minimum English language proficiency requirements set by LSHTM by Monday, 15 June 2026. Failure to meet this requirement may lead to the withdrawal of any scholarship offer, which will then be extended to a reserve candidate.
- Hold a first degree with a classification equivalent to a first or upper second class honours.
- Have already received or obtained an offer of admission for the 2026-27 academic year to one of LSHTM’s London-based intensive MSc programmes.
Scholarship Benefits
There are three scholarships to be awarded for the academic year 2026-27. Each scholarship package includes:
- Full coverage of tuition fees, including any mandatory field trip fees associated with the course.
- A tax-free stipend amounting to GBP 22,000.00, intended to cover living expenses during the study period.
Application Process
The application procedure consists of two essential stages. Candidates must fulfill all eligibility requirements and complete both steps by 16:00 (BST) on Wednesday, 04 March 2026, to be considered for the scholarship funding.
- Submit an application for a 2026-27 London-based MSc programme of study. Applicants should follow the application instructions provided on the relevant programme page under the ‘How to Apply’ section. The programmes can be explored here: London-based MSc programme of study.
- Complete the scholarship application. After submitting your study application, you will receive an automated email from the Scholarships team (scholarships@lshtm.ac.uk) containing a link to the online scholarship portal and a temporary password to access it via e-vision. Upon first login, you should update your password. Search for ‘GSK Scholarships for Future Health Leaders’ within the portal and answer all questions carefully. Once you have reviewed your responses, submit the application to receive a confirmation email. Note that no applications can be accepted after the deadline.
The LSHTM Scholarships team will communicate with applicants following the deadline. Final decisions will be made, and successful candidates notified, during the week commencing 1 June 2026.
Additional Important Details
- These scholarships are open to candidates applying for any intensive, non-distance MSc programmes offered by LSHTM in London, with the exception of joint programmes such as MSc Global Mental Health, MSc Health Policy, Planning & Financing, MSc One Health, and MSc Veterinary Epidemiology.
- Applicants should submit their study application promptly to allow sufficient time for payment of the GBP 50.00 LSHTM admissions application fee. Until this fee is processed, you cannot complete your application to study.

- Any incomplete or late applications will be disqualified from scholarship consideration. This includes missing documents in either Step 1 or Step 2 of the application process.
- Applicants must ensure all necessary supplementary documentation is uploaded to the LSHTM Admissions Portal before the scholarship deadline.
