Eligibility Criteria

Master’s Degree Applicants

  • Must be a citizen of one of the African Development Bank’s Regional Member Countries (RMC)
  • Possess a bachelor's degree in fisheries, marine science, blue economy-related fields, or any discipline with a strong interest in pursuing a career in fisheries or the blue economy
  • Demonstrate English language proficiency with a minimum IELTS score of 6.0 or TOEFL score of 80
  • Be under 35 years of age at the time of application
  • Maintain a strong academic record, typically a GPA of 3.0 or higher

Ph.D. Degree Applicants

  • Must be nationals of AfDB’s Regional Member Countries with relevant experience in fisheries or sectors linked to the blue economy
  • Hold a Master’s degree in Marine Science, Aquaculture, Economics, Environmental Policy, Development Studies, or closely related disciplines
  • Show proof of English proficiency with a minimum IELTS score of 6.0 or TOEFL score of 80
  • Possess research experience, including at least one published academic paper
  • Exhibit strong analytical, research, and policy formulation skills
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and teamwork abilities, especially in multicultural environments
