Justus & Louise van Effen Excellence Scholarships

At TU Delft a number of scholarships are available for excellent international applicants. Justus & Louise Van Effen Excellence Scholarships are financed by the legacy of Justus and Louise van Effen. Mr. van Effen studied at TU Delft in the 1940’s and strongly believed technological developments will contribute to solving societal issues.

The Foundation Justus & Louise van Effen was established with the aim of stimulating excellent international MSc students and financially supporting them in their wish to study at TU Delft.

EligibilityYou are an excellent international applicant (conditionally) admitted to one of the 2-year regular TU Delft MSc programmes (not an International Joint Education Programme).You are not eligible for the Justus & Louise van Effen Excellence Scholarships if:You are a TU Delft bachelor’s student (even if you are an international student).You are an international student applying for a TU Delft MSc programme who has obtained their bachelor’s degree at a Dutch University.You have already started your MSc studies at TU Delft (the scholarship is only for new, incoming students).Students must have achieved excellent academic results in their previous study programme(s), which must be relevant to the Master’s programme for which they are applying. As an indication, the student is amongst the top 10% of graduates in his/her previous study programme. Note that proof of ranking is not required – this information is purely to indicate the level of competitiveness.You have submitted a complete MSc application before the scholarship deadline.
 
Application deadline1 December 2026 (23:59 CET)
GrantingStudents who have been granted a scholarship will be informed by TU Delft via email by the end of March 2027.Receiving the scholarship is conditional on the student fulfilling all admission criteria.
 
Extent of ScholarshipFull tuition fees per year for a TU Delft MSc programme based on the statutory fee or institutional rate, according to the registered nationality, AND contribution for the living expenses. 
ProcedureALL DOCUMENTS REQUIRED MUST BE SUBMITTED  AT ONCE with the MSc Application !
1. Complete your MSc application (check the admission requirements)
2. Upload the Scholarship Application Form
3. Upload two reference letterso    You can upload your reference letters during your MSc application (as one PDF document), according to the indicated requirement.And/oro    You can request the reference letters from your referee(s). Fill out the information about your referee/s and invite them by using the ‘send invitation button’. The referee(s) will receive an automatic email inviting him/her to upload a reference for you. 
o    You can combine both procedures. E.g. 1 upload and 1 referee request.
o    Reference letters will not be considered if you have already submitted your application.
o    Reference letters will not be accepted after the Scholarship deadline.
 4. Upload the English language certificatePlease note that all applicants who wish to be considered for a scholarship are required to include their English test with their MSc application before the Scholarship deadline application (if required).
PLEASE NOTEAll documents required for the scholarship must be submitted together with the MSc Application. After submission no additional documents can be uploaded.
