Call for Application: 2026/27 IOE Centenary Scholarships for study at the University College London in UK
Centenary scholars
Since 2002, over 80 IOE Centenary Scholarships have been awarded.
IOE Centenary Master’s Scholarships
UCL Institute of Education (IOE) is delighted to be partners with International Students House (ISH) in these awards: IOE – International Students House Centenary Scholarship, and the Mary Trevelyan Centenary Scholarship (in honour of the founder of ISH).
The scholarships cover full tuition fees and accommodation for one academic year at ISH. Please note that these scholarships do not cover subsistence in London, travel or any other expenses. The scholarships are tenable for one academic year, subject to satisfactory progress.
Who can apply?
Candidates should be:
- domiciled in an eligible low or lower-middle income country according to the World Bank classification
- have an official unconditional offer to study a full-time master’s degree at IOE (letter issued by UCL Admissions)
- not have studied or lived in the UK before.
Please note that these scholarships are not available for the MA Educational Neuroscience or for online or part-time courses.

IOE Centenary Doctoral Scholarships
IOE is delighted to be partners with International Students House (ISH) in these awards.
The scholarships cover full tuition fees and accommodation for one academic year at ISH plus an annual stipend. The scholarships are tenable for up to 4 academic years, subject to satisfactory progress.
Who can apply?
Candidates should be:
- domiciled in an eligible low or lower-middle income country according to the World Bank classification
- have an official unconditional offer to study a full time PhD degree at IOE (letter issued by UCL Admissions).
Please note that the EdD, DEdPsy and part-time or online programmes are not eligible for this scholarship.

IOE – China Scholarship Council (CSC) Scholarship
IOE and the China Scholarship Council (CSC) have entered into a partnership to provide one full PhD that covers:
- IOE covers tuition fees while the CSC provides a stipend for living expenses
- the scholarship is tenable for up to 48 months.
Who can apply?
The award is available to all Chinese students and is awarded annually. Candidates will need to fulfil eligibility requirements as stated on the RES webpage. Please note that prospective students will need to have received an unconditional offer before they can apply for this award. Full application instructions can be found on the RES webpage.

IOE – Clarke Scholarships
IOE is delighted to have received a donation from the family of its former Director Sir Fred Clarke to provide scholarships for teachers from South Africa.
These scholarships:
- are available for practising school teachers from South Africa who wish to undertake a masters’ programme at IOE
- will cover return flights to London, course tuition fees, and a monthly stipend for accommodation and subsistence in London.
Who can apply?
Candidates should be:
- practicing school teachers
- nationals and residents in South Africa
- have an unconditional offer to study a campus based masters’ degree at IOE (official letter issued by UCL admissions).
