Each year, this prestigious scholarship is awarded to a select group of exceptional international students commencing their studies at Griffith University.

Who Can Apply?

Applicants must meet the following criteria to qualify for the Vice Chancellor International Scholarship:

  • Must be a citizen of a country other than Australia or New Zealand.
  • Be a new student who has received an official offer to study at Griffith University by the scholarship application deadline.
  • Maintain a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 6.0 or higher on a 7-point scale, or an equivalent academic standing from previous studies.
  • Fulfill all academic and English language admission requirements for the intended undergraduate or postgraduate coursework program.
  • Commit to full-time enrollment starting in either 2025 or 2026.

How to Submit Your Application

Follow these steps to apply for the scholarship, and Griffith University will notify you of the result:

  1. Submit an application for admission to a relevant undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degree program at Griffith University.
  2. Once you receive your Letter of Offer, complete the scholarship application by the deadline corresponding to your commencement trimester (details below).
  3. Include your academic transcripts and a personal statement as part of your scholarship application.
  4. A dedicated panel at the University will assess all eligible applications.
  5. You will be informed of the scholarship decision following the review process.

Receiving and Maintaining the Scholarship

To officially receive the scholarship, you must accept both your program offer and the scholarship notification by the specified deadline. Failure to accept by this date will result in the scholarship being withdrawn.

Once enrolled at Griffith University, the scholarship discount will be applied before the census date of each trimester, contingent on your continuous enrollment and meeting ongoing requirements. Students are responsible for paying any remaining tuition fees according to their enrollment by the census date.

Terms and Conditions

  • You must be a new student commencing your studies in the trimester you are applying for (e.g., for Trimester 1, 2025 commencement, applications must be submitted by the relevant deadline).
  • Admission to Griffith University requires meeting all academic and English language criteria, including previous academic results and language proficiency benchmarks.
  • This scholarship covers 50% of tuition fees specifically for undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degrees and applies for the entire duration of the course, provided ongoing eligibility is maintained.
  • The eligible course duration is based on the Program Length specified in your initial Letter of Offer, minus any credit granted for prior studies.
  • Scholarship tuition fee reductions will be applied by the census date of each trimester during your program.
  • Applicants must be classified as International Fee Paying students at all times; any change in this status will disqualify recipients from continuing to receive the scholarship benefits.
  • Availability is competitive and limited; once all scholarships are allocated, remaining applicants will be notified that the scholarship has been fully awarded.
  • The scholarship excludes enrolments in Higher Degree Research programs, online courses (campus = online), non-award or Study Abroad programs, Diploma courses, Masters Qualifying Programs, the MBA (program code 5158), English language courses via Griffith English Language Institute, part-time only programs, and any programs delivered offshore or in partnership with other organizations.
  • Scholarship deferrals are not permitted under any circumstances.
  • Recipients may be featured in Griffith University’s promotional and marketing materials.

Continuing Eligibility and Enrolment Requirements

To maintain the scholarship, recipients must:

  • Stay enrolled full-time and demonstrate satisfactory academic progress throughout their program, except where credit arrangements prevent full-time study.
  • Successfully pass all courses each trimester and continue enrolling in subsequent trimesters.
  • Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 5.5 on a 7-point scale annually to remain eligible for tuition fee reductions in subsequent years.
  • The cumulative GPA is calculated based on all graded courses in the student’s program and is reviewed at key points: after Trimester 2 for those starting in Trimester 1, and after Trimester 1 for those starting in Trimester 2 or 3.
  • Remain enrolled in the program specified in the Letter of Offer issued by Griffith International Admissions. Withdrawal or cancellation of enrolment will lead to forfeiture of scholarship funds and these are non-refundable.
