Eligibility Criteria
The exchange semester scholarship is designed for master’s degree students currently studying at one of the TUM SEED Center’s partner universities. Ideal candidates will possess an outstanding academic record and demonstrate a strong motivation to take part in an exchange semester at TUM with the support of this scholarship.
The program seeks highly engaged students originating from the Global South who have a passionate interest in sustainable development issues and are committed to driving impactful change. Applicants should have a solid inclination towards interdisciplinary research combining sustainable energies and entrepreneurship.
Recipients of the SEED scholarship are expected to maintain exemplary academic standards, actively participate in the activities organized by the TUM SEED Center, and foster vibrant academic exchanges with peers. The program strongly encourages applications from women and individuals with disabilities to promote diversity and inclusion.
What Does the Scholarship Cover?
The scholarship provides comprehensive financial support for a semester-long exchange at the Technical University of Munich, including:
- A monthly living allowance of EUR 992
- Reimbursement of insurance costs up to EUR 100 per month
- Round-trip flight tickets to and from Germany
- Semester fees
- Access to and participation in TUM SEED Center events and activities
Important: Students are accountable for their own visa applications, accommodation arrangements, and all other logistical matters related to their stay. Although the TUM SEED Center may provide guidance and recommendations, all official procedures and bookings must be managed independently by the students.
The scholarship does not cover any upfront costs such as housing deposits. It is crucial that students are financially prepared to cover initial expenses as scholarship payments will only be processed after their arrival in Germany and completion of essential administrative steps, including registration with local authorities (Anmeldung) and obtaining a German tax identification number (Steuer-ID). This administrative process may require several weeks.
If unforeseen circumstances prevent a student from traveling to Germany—such as visa delays or personal issues—the scholarship will be forfeited. Furthermore, any additional costs incurred due to flight changes, missed flights, or cancellations must be borne by the student.
Duration of Scholarship
This scholarship supports one full semester, running from 1 October 2026 through 31 March 2027.
