The application process is now open for the 2026 edition of the Kwame Karikari Fact-checking and OSINT Fellowship. This prestigious fellowship is jointly hosted by DUBAWA and the Digital Technology, Artificial Intelligence, and Information Disorder Analysis Centre (DAIDAC), two of Africa’s foremost platforms dedicated to in-depth research, verification of information, and fact-checking.
This fellowship offers more than just an opportunity—it positions you at the cutting edge of the battle against misinformation within West Africa. Spanning three months, the intensive program will provide you with advanced fact-checking techniques, practical experience using open-source intelligence (OSINT) tools, and personalized mentorship. The goal is to empower you to become a trusted source of truth and integrity in your community.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be full-time journalists based in Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Liberia, or The Gambia.
- Professionals engaged in fact-checking or investigative journalism who aspire to enhance their expertise.
- Previous Kwame Karikari Fellowship alumni with a strong interest in OSINT-based investigations.
- Outstanding writers passionate about uncovering and disseminating truthful information.
- Individuals motivated to expand their knowledge and skills within the fact-checking domain.
- Journalists able to commit the necessary time and dedication to fully participate in the fellowship activities.
- Applicants with the endorsement and support from their management to implement and publish fact-checks.
- Female journalists and those with disabilities (PWDs) are especially encouraged to apply to promote diversity and inclusion.
- Journalists with professional experience or interest in climate change and conflict reporting are also welcome.
