The application window is now open for the 2026 edition of the One Young World Hauwa Ojeifo Scholarship. Entering its second year, this prestigious scholarship was established to empower emerging young leaders dedicated to tackling the critical and interlinked challenges affecting women and girls around the world. It offers these dynamic changemakers the essential resources, expert knowledge, and a global stage necessary to spearhead impactful and transformative initiatives.
By supporting passionate individuals addressing pressing issues such as child marriage, gender-based violence, and mental health inequities, the Hauwa Ojeifo Scholarship seeks to nurture a generation of compassionate, fearless, and visionary leaders committed to creating a fairer, more inclusive, and equitable society for everyone.
This opportunity is proudly delivered through a collaboration between One Young World and the Hauwa Ojeifo Global Impact Fund for Women & Girls. Spearheaded by mental health advocate and One Young World Ambassador Hauwa Ojeifo, the Impact Fund’s mission is to fortify care systems to enhance the health and wellbeing of 100 million women and girls by 2030.
Who Should Apply?
One Young World is searching for sixteen emerging young leaders who demonstrate a strong commitment to confronting the urgent and interconnected issues impacting women and girls today.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Applicants must be aged between 18 and 30 years old at the time of the One Young World Summit 2026.
- Must hold a leadership position or actively work within an organisation, or lead their own initiative, with verifiable impact in one or more of the following focus areas:
- Mental Health, including neurodivergence and developmental differences
- Domestic and Sexual Violence
- Disability Rights and the rights of older people
- Gynaecological Health and Sexual & Reproductive Health and Rights
- Maternal and Child Health
- Issues affecting the Girl Child, such as Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), adolescent pregnancy, and child marriage
- Non-Communicable Diseases
- Must reside in and be actively making an impact in Africa, Asia, or the Middle East.
- Willingness to collaborate and engage with fellow scholarship recipients.
Please note: Applications from individuals who will be younger than 18 at the time of the Summit will not be accepted. However, candidates over 30 years old may still be considered provided they demonstrate exceptional personal impact, initiative, and engagement willingness.
What Does the Scholarship Include?
The Hauwa Ojeifo Scholars will be granted the following benefits:
- Full access to attend the One Young World Summit 2026, scheduled to take place in Cape Town, South Africa, from 3 to 6 November.
- Lifelong membership in the global One Young World Ambassador Community, connecting them with an international network of changemakers.
- Participation in the One Young World Global Leadership Programme and Action Accelerator, designed to develop leadership skills and accelerate social impact.
- Eligibility to apply for grant funding up to $25,000 USD to support their initiatives.
- Accommodation at a hotel for the entirety of the Summit.
- Round-trip economy class airfare from their country of residence to Cape Town.
- All meals provided throughout the duration of the Summit, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
- Transportation service between the Summit hotel and venue.
