PSSA FPE Bursaries 2027: Pharmacy Funding Closes Today for Undergraduates
The Pharmaceutical Society of South Africa (PSSA) is accepting applications for its bursary programme for the 2027 academic year. Funding comes through the Foundation for Pharmaceutical Education (FPE) and supports undergraduate and postgraduate pharmacy-related studies. The closing date for undergraduate applications is 5 October 2026.
About the Bursary
The FPE funds pharmacy students at recognised South African institutions, and the PSSA administers the programme. Awards are made for one academic year at a time, so recipients must reapply each year to renew. Earlier calls state that the bursary carries no service contract or work-back obligation, though you should confirm this in the current terms.
Who Can Apply
Undergraduate bursary. This is open to BPharm students in their second or later year of study. Past selections have considered financial circumstances, academic achievement and other funding the student already receives.
Postgraduate bursary. This supports Masters and Doctoral students in pharmacy-related fields. In earlier years, selection weighed project viability and academic potential alongside financial need.
Both levels require PSSA student membership, which is free for students. The programme is aimed at South African students.
How to Apply
- Join the PSSA as a student member if you are not already one.
- Complete the online 2027 undergraduate bursary application on the PSSA website.
- Gather your supporting documents before you start, including academic records and proof of registration.
- Submit before the deadline.
For questions, contact Ms Nitsa Manolis, the FPE Administrator, at [email protected].
Tips for a Stronger Application
- Be specific about financial need. Explain your circumstances clearly and list any other funding you receive.
- Show your academic record. Include your latest results and any distinctions.
- Check every field. Incomplete applications are easy to reject, so review the form before you submit.
- Plan for renewal. Keep your results strong and your membership active so you can reapply next year.
Postgraduate students should check the PSSA website or email the FPE administrator for the current closing date and form.
Apply only through the official PSSA website. Legitimate bursary programmes do not ask you to pay to apply.
