The call for applications is now open for the 2026/2027 cycle of the Swedish Institute Scholarships for Global Professionals. This prestigious scholarship program is designed to support international professionals pursuing full-time master’s degree studies at Swedish universities. Aimed at candidates from selected countries, the scholarship covers one- or two-year master’s programmes taught in English, spanning diverse fields of study.

Who Can Apply? Eligibility Criteria

  • Nationality: Applicants must hold citizenship from one of the countries eligible under the SI scholarship program. Residency in the country of citizenship at the time of application is not mandatory.
  • Master’s Programmes: The degree programme you apply for must be listed as eligible for the scholarship. The complete list of qualifying programmes will be released in mid-November 2025.
  • University Admission: Candidates must be liable for tuition fees at Swedish universities and have completed the University Admissions process. Admission to one of the eligible master’s programmes must be confirmed by the official admissions announcement date.
  • Professional Experience: Demonstrable work experience is required, with specific conditions applying depending on the applicant’s region. Additionally, leadership experience must be evident either through current or past employment or through involvement in civil society initiatives.

What Does the Scholarship Offer?

The Swedish Institute’s Scholarship for Global Professionals is a highly competitive, fully funded award that includes:

  • Tuition Fees: Full coverage of tuition fees, paid directly to the Swedish university each semester by the Swedish Institute.
  • Monthly Living Allowance: A stipend of SEK 12,000 per month to help with living expenses throughout the duration of the study period.
  • Travel Grant: A one-time travel subsidy of SEK 15,000 (or SEK 10,000 for scholars from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine). This travel grant is not applicable to those already residing in Sweden.
  • Professional Network Membership: Access to the SI Network for Global Professionals, a platform designed to foster professional growth and networking opportunities during your time in Sweden.
  • Post-Scholarship Alumni Opportunities: Upon completion of your scholarship period, you will automatically join the Sweden Alumni Network, providing exclusive chances for ongoing networking and career development.

What the Scholarship Does Not Cover

  • The scholarship does not include health or travel insurance; applicants should consult their university about insurance provisions for international students.
  • No additional financial support is offered for family members accompanying the scholar.
  • The application fee for University Admissions is not covered by the scholarship.
  • Changing your master's programme after receiving the scholarship is not permitted; support is limited to the awarded programme only.
  • The scholarship period cannot be extended or altered once awarded.
