Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must hold citizenship from one of the countries listed as eligible for the TaiwanICDF Scholarship and must meet any additional specific criteria stipulated by their country or government.
  • Applicants should neither be nationals of the Republic of China (Taiwan) nor recognized as overseas compatriot students.
  • Candidates must fulfill the admission requirements of the Taiwanese university to which they have applied through the TaiwanICDF scholarship program.
  • Applicants must be able to meet all conditions required for obtaining a Resident Visa (Code: FS) issued by the Bureau of Consular Affairs under Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as an Alien Resident Certificate (ARC) provided by the Ministry of the Interior of Taiwan’s government. Should an applicant fail to meet these visa requirements, TaiwanICDF reserves the right to revoke the scholarship award.

Scholarship Benefits

The TaiwanICDF scholarship offers extensive financial support, including round-trip airfare, accommodation, tuition, credit fees, insurance, textbook purchases, and a monthly living allowance. The scholarship’s components are broken down as follows:

Airfare TaiwanICDF arranges the most direct Economy Class flights to and from Taiwan. Applicants should verify airline policies regarding baggage limits and pet transport before traveling.
Housing All scholarship recipients are required to live in student dormitories provided by the host university.
Tuition Fees Full coverage of tuition fees as mandated by the student’s chosen university.
Credit Fees Credit fees, which may vary depending on the number of registered course credits, will be covered accordingly.
Insurance Students must have mandatory student safety insurance as per the Ministry of Education’s regulations, plus additional coverage for accidents and necessary medical treatments, all of which are funded by the scholarship throughout the study period.
Book Costs Textbook purchases required by instructors are reimbursed subject to approval from the director of the student’s institute.
Monthly Allowance
  • Bachelor’s Degree Students: NT$15,000 monthly for food and other living expenses, deposited directly into the student’s local bank account.
  • Master’s Degree Students: NT$18,000 monthly, similarly deposited.
  • Ph.D. Candidates: NT$20,000 monthly on the same terms.

How to Apply

  1. Submit the complete online application no later than March 15, 2026.
  2. Application review begins at the ROC (Taiwan) Embassy or Office in the applicant’s home country.
  3. The embassy conducts the initial screening and forwards a list of recommended candidates to TaiwanICDF.
  4. Further evaluation is carried out by the Joint Recruitment Committee.
  5. Final scholarship awards are announced by TaiwanICDF, typically by June 10, 2026.
