Applications are presently being accepted for the 2026 AWF-Wall Policy Fellowship, a distinguished opportunity designed to equip emerging African professionals with expertise in International Environmental Governance. This fellowship specifically focuses on the Convention on Biological Diversity, aiming to nurture a new generation of leaders passionate about environmental policy.
The fellowship is a nine-month intensive program jointly offered by the African Wildlife Foundation (AWF) in collaboration with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). Its core objective is to build capacity among young experts by providing specialized training and practical experience in policy-making related to biodiversity and environmental governance.
Eligibility Criteria
- Demonstrated Commitment: Applicants must show a strong interest and enthusiasm for pursuing a career in international environmental governance policy, particularly in areas concerning biodiversity and associated topics.
- Nationality and Residence: Candidates should be nationals of any African country and currently reside and work within the African continent.
- Age Range: Eligible applicants must be between 20 and 35 years old.
- Professional Background: Relevant experience is required in fields such as environmental sciences, social sciences, agricultural sciences, indigenous knowledge systems, resource mobilization, international relations, gender studies, biotechnology, or other sectors connected to various Multilateral Environmental Agreements.
- Language Skills: Francophone applicants must possess basic proficiency in English, both in writing and speaking, as only applications submitted in English will be reviewed.
