Application Deadline: 2 February 2026
Applications are currently being accepted for the ANRS MIE Fellowships 2026 under the category “Master’s grants – International Network.” The ANRS MIE is deeply committed to fostering the professional growth of emerging scientists by strategically allocating resources and introducing targeted initiatives aimed at nurturing their involvement and advancement within the agency’s research domains. A key component of this effort is the Start programme, which encompasses a variety of support measures specifically designed to empower early-career researchers.
Within this framework, the 2026 call for “Master’s grants – International Network” seeks to provide financial assistance for a one-year master’s degree to professionals and students hailing from low and middle-income countries (LMICs) who are engaged, or intend to engage, in research activities aligned with the ANRS MIE’s thematic priorities.
Eligibility Criteria
- This fellowship is exclusively targeted at junior researchers originating from LMICs.
- The goal is to create opportunities that enable recipients to further their scientific careers in research through close cooperation with members of the ANRS MIE International Network, including Partner Sites and PRISME (International Research Platforms in Global Health).
- Applicants can be either professionals or students who are already involved in research projects at a Partner Site or PRISME, or who aim to initiate collaborations with these partners.
- Applicants must choose one internship offer from those presented by the Partner Sites and PRISME within the International Network (refer to the “Download internship offers” section).
For the 2026 cycle, internship opportunities are available in cooperation with Partner Sites and PRISME located in: Brazil, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea, Senegal, and Vietnam.
Grant Details and Financial Coverage
The fellowship provides a grant of up to €20,000 (excluding administrative fees), which supports a consecutive 12-month period during the academic year 2026-2027.
The funding is designed to subsidize all necessary expenses related to completing a master’s degree year. This includes enrollment fees, costs for living such as meals, insurance, and day-to-day expenditures, accommodation expenses, travel costs, visa or residence permit charges, and any other expenses directly associated with course participation and internship completion.
Application Process
The selection procedure for the “Master’s grants – International Network” consists of two distinct phases:
- Phase I (26 November 2025 – 2 February 2026): Submission of preliminary applications, which include a description of the master’s programme(s) being considered and a selection of one internship offer from a Partner Site or PRISME. Applicants must apply for only one chosen internship.
