Applications are now open for the 2027 University of Ghana Institute of Statistical, Social, and Economic Research (ISSER) Pre-Doctoral Fellowship. The Institute of Statistical, Social, and Economic Research (ISSER), University of Ghana, invites applications for a one-year Pre-Doctoral Fellowship to support research under the Standing Panel on Impact Assessment (SPIA) of CGIAR.

The fellowship offers an opportunity for an early-career researcher to gain hands-on experience in applied development research while preparing for doctoral studies. The Fellow will work with Professor Robert Darko Osei, SPIA Member at the University of Ghana, on research related to agriculture, natural resources, food systems and impact evaluation.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Support scientific and technical research activities, including planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting on the SPIA workplan.
  • Assist with research design, data collection, management, cleaning and quantitative analysis.
  • Support research activities with the SPIA global team and other Panel Members.
  • Participate in SPIA monthly research seminars and other collaborative research activities.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, policy briefs and other research outputs.
  • Contribute to research publications and produce at least two technical papers during the fellowship period.
  • Provide project and administrative support, and perform any other duties assigned by the SPIA Member.

Requirements

Applicants should have:

  • A Master’s degree in Economics, Agricultural Economics or a related field.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
  • Experience in data collection and research.
  • Interest in agriculture, natural resources and food systems in developing countries.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills. Knowledge of impact evaluation is an advantage.

Remuneration
A competitive fellowship package will be offered, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
