World Press Institute Fellowship Program 2026 for Journalists (Fully Funded to the United States)

Application Deadline: February 15, 2026

Applications are currently being accepted for the 2026 World Press Institute Fellowship Program, an esteemed opportunity offered annually to international journalists who demonstrate exceptional skill and commitment. Each year, the World Press Institute (WPI) selects a small group of accomplished journalists from across the globe for a comprehensive fellowship that delves into the workings of the U.S. media landscape, its culture, political environment, and contemporary societal issues.

The program is highly competitive, attracting hundreds of applicants worldwide, with only 10 fellowship positions available. Those chosen represent the finest journalists in their home countries, known for their inquisitiveness, intelligence, and ambition, alongside a profound dedication to the principles of responsible journalism.

During the fellowship, participants embark on a structured, nationwide journey visiting major U.S. cities such as Washington D.C., Chicago, New York City, San Francisco, and others. This immersive experience includes meetings and interviews with experts from various media organizations, influential think tanks, and advocacy groups. Fellows gain unique insights into innovative business strategies being adopted by both national and local media outlets, directly from those shaping these changes.
